Statement on Article in the Wilkes Journal-Patriot
Thank you to the Journal-Patriot for the opportunity for the constituents of District 94 to compare the candidates of the upcoming race for NC House. In this article, the Republican candidate made claims about me, saying that I "align with the liberal agenda of government limiting our constitutional rights to keep and bear arms." This statement is false. And to attempt to diminish this election to liberal vs. conservative ideology is unfair to the people of Wilkes and Alexander Counties. I support the Second Amendment. I do not want to take your guns. I believe in sensible gun control and limitations to gun ownership for criminals, abusers and the mentally ill. But if elected, I will not come for your guns and I will use my voice in Raleigh to speak for our communities, not any "agenda."

Our Teachers Deserve Better
Beginning teacher salary is now $39,000 and that ranks 46th among the 50 States, but worse than that, veteran teacher pay is dead last. Our General Assembly thinks that a 30-year veteran is worth only $16,000 more than a rookie, that averages out to a little over $500 a year for each year of experience it's time to change that.

Education issues inspire run for House Seat
I was inspired to enter the race for the District 94 House seat because of education. With 45 years invested in education it is extremely important to me. There are many aspects of the current public education system that trouble me and need to be corrected. Here are what I believe are the three biggest issues that need to be addressed by the General Assembly in Raleigh.
